Jeff Lawver
Chief Executive Officer
I grew up in the small town of Bolivar, OH. I went to a Division III college in Ohio (The College of Wooster). I made my way down to NC by throwing a dart at the map (the day before I graduated) and I hit upon Raleigh, NC.
The thing I most enjoy about work is helping people understand what insurance is all about so they can make an educated decision and are properly covered in the event of a loss. Anyone can be an order taker. At our agency, we strive to be Trusted Insurance Advisors, so we can get the best product for all of our clients.
I have three children that are all over the place with extracurricular activities (such as competitive cheerleading, playing the drums, football, dance). I love going to watch them excel at these activities.
My favorite way to spend the weekend is sitting in a beach chair, at the ocean with my wife. Other than the beach, going to sporting events and concerts would be the other place you would find me when I’m not at work.
One of my interests is in landscaping. I really enjoy making my property look great. When I was growing up, I spent a great deal of time with my father, planting trees, shrubs, etc. and I have continued with that tradition today with my son.
I currently coach my son’s football team and have for many years. I enjoy working with the children to improve their skill level while making sure they are having fun doing it.

Missy Lawver
Chief Financial Officer
I grew up in Liberty, NC. I moved away from home at the age of 13 to attend Salem Academy boarding school for a portion of my high school years. I then moved onto East Carolina University where I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management with a double concentration in Finance and Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship.
I enjoy working with numbers and achieving financial freedom via hard work and integrating with others on a daily basis. I am truly intrigued by organizational behaviors and relish working with a team to create a positive working environment which ultimately results in a successful business operation.
I love to watch my three children perform in their chosen extracurricular activities which include football, competitive cheerleading, rockstar drumming, and dancing.
I have a special connection with the ocean. I like to be sitting or playing beside it or skimming across it on a boat. I plan to retire on the coast of the Carolinas.
I enjoy crafting and creating things with my hands. I have a guilty pleasure for cross stitching which I learned from my grandmother when I was a child.
I am an active volunteer at my children’s school. I also donate my time and funds to local animal organizations and my alma mater, East Carolina University.

Caylea Strickland
Chief Customer Officer
I am from Franklinville, NC. However, I usually say I am from the "Randolph County" area because when you are from a small town, the other small towns help raise you as well!
One thing I really love about my job is helping members understand the coverages that they have on their policy. Insurance can seem like a different language at times and I love being able to break that barrier and help a member truly understand what they are protecting.
One thing you’ll always find me talking about is how much I love family! My husband, son and my two goldendoodle fur children, Espn Wrigley and Fenway Jones. They go everywhere they can with me and have never met a stranger!
In my free time, if it is a sunny, warm day, you can find me and my family on the beach! Whether it be after the summer season when we can take our dogs out on the beach for long walks, or the most wonderful summer months spent getting vitamin SEA. If it’s not the beach, you can find us traveling and finding new adventures!
A fun fact about me is that I love film and I have a passion for acting/participating in the film industry if I can. I have been an extra and/or a stand-in actor for “The Longest Ride”, “Under the Dome”, “Wonder Woman 1984”, among other small productions.
I am a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. I love being able to volunteer with Safe Kids, Randolph County. Our mission is to help protect Randolph County’s children (birth to age 18) from unintentional, preventable childhood injuries. I am also a member of Asheboro Junior Women’s club. We are committed to improving the lives of women and children through community activism and volunteerism in Randolph Country. Additionally, I am also on the board of the Liberty Veterans Memorial and Gardens.

Alysia Hancock
President of Business Operations
I really enjoy learning every day and developing new strategies and processes for the business. It is so important to create the best environment for our clients and staff while ensuring the most profitability for the agency. I love my family; my 4 children are adults but to me they will always be my babies, they are my greatest accomplishments. I have 2 grandsons that are the light of my life and I cannot spend enough time with them. If I am not at work, you will find me on island time!
My husband and I have a little slice of heaven on Topsail island and that is our favorite place to be. We have an Australian Shepherd named Cooper and the beach is his favorite place too! I love to cook, I spend the cold months of the year experimenting in the kitchen, making treats that I give away to friends, family, and co-workers. My husband and I volunteer with Serve the City, Run 5 Feed 5, and we serve at our church. Vintage Church in Randleman. I am passionate about Veteran’s Affairs. My Dad is a Vietnam Veteran who suffers from Agent Orange exposure. I have been advocating for him and other veterans for many years.

Sean Fincher
President of Commercial Operations
Sean is from Fayetteville, NC. After high school, he attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Several years after graduating, he returned back to Fayetteville to begin his career in the insurance business with Nationwide Insurance.
After 25 years, he still enjoys the little things about the insurance business. “ Creating and maintaining strong client and employee relationships” When he is not working on those relationships and taking care of clients he enjoys anything outdoors. Fishing, hunting, golf, and hanging out with his wife Jennifer and 2 boys, Drew and Scott. Licensed in NC, SC.

Pamela Hockensmith
Commercial Division Manager

David Copas
Chief Analytics Officer
I’ve been involved in the insurance industry for 11 years in one way or another. The majority of that time has been dedicated to commercial/business insurance. I grew up in Cridersville, OH. I graduated from The College of Wooster in 2001 and moved to North Carolina that same year.
What excites me most about my job is that our business is always changing. It is interesting keeping up with those changes year in and year out. It is fulfilling to communicate those changes to our insureds so that they better understand the coverages they have, should have and need.
I really enjoy getting out to see live music. Luckily, I live in an area with plenty of those opportunities. While I wouldn’t call it a talent by any stretch of the imagination, I do like to play the guitar. Practicing at it keeps me occupied during the minimal downtime I have.
When I’m not working, I spend the majority of my time with my wife and daughter puttering around Raleigh. Otherwise, I spend a good deal of time tinkering around the house and jogging out at William B Umstead State Park.

Espn Wrigley and Fenway (Fenny)
Happiness Team Leaders
Hi there, We are Espn Wrigley and Fenway (Fenny)! We are Goldendoodles and you guessed it, we LOVE baseball! We are also on the Happiness Team at Insurance of the Carolinas. Our job is to promote joy and happiness to all of those we meet in person and get to see via the world of social media.
However, we can’t really call it a “job” when we get to play fetch and get belly rubs while we “work”. We also love getting to work with our team members at Insurance of the Carolinas and it’s not just because they know we love peanut butter. If you see us around the office we would love to “sit and shake paws” with you, and if you see us on social media, be sure to “like” our picture so our mom can show us!

John Brooks
Commercial Risk Manager
I grew up in NC and I have watched it grow from basically a small city with many outlying farm communities, to a small to medium bustling metropolis with many outlying small cities and the farm communities still being on the fringe.
I love helping our clients with their business insurance needs, so they can be more focused on the other aspects of their business and know that they are well taken care of by an agent who truly cares about them and their business.
I enjoy discussing the major topics of our day and how to possibly resolve issues that affect us as a society. I like to listen to other people’s ideas and enjoy getting opinions of others to see how different perspectives tackle different problems.
When I’m not at work, you can find me playing volleyball or coaching my son’s soccer team, or sometimes just picking up a good book. My favorite way to spend a weekend is with my son at the beach or on a trip. As long as we are hanging out together and he is enjoying himself and having new experiences, I am happy! Seeing the world through the eyes of our children, is one of the coolest things about being a parent.
I don’t have any guilty pleasures, but I do have a specific talent. I taught ballroom dancing for the last 25 years and I am still pretty good at it. I still dance and teach occasionally.
I am a coach for my local community soccer teams. I also volunteer with the ROC Solid Foundation which helps children and their families that are affected by cancer. They provide “ready bags” for the start of their hospital stays, playsets and room makeovers for children with cancer.

Briana Futch

Libby Ashley
Commercial Lines Account Manager
I am from Martinsville, VA and I lived there until I moved to Greensboro, NC in 1997.
What excites me about my job is that I want to know that at the end of the day, I have helped every customer that I can. I want to leave the office knowing that I have either made their day in some way or at least helped them out of a jam.
I love my kids and family, there is nothing that makes me happier. I spend my weekends with my children going to their activities. You can either find me on a softball field, basketball court, or at a Rodeo.
I would love to one day dive with Great White Sharks.
I enjoy working with the North Carolina Youth Rodeo Association as well as the Relay for Life in my area.

Joe Jenkins
Joe Jenkins
I have 46 years of experience in the insurance industry, having gone into life insurance sales after graduating from ECU in 1972. In June 1975 I began my life long career as a Nationwide Insurance agent. I grew up in Rockingham, NC, graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Industrial Technology.
I love my work because no other industry or profession can provide the financial security that the insurance industry does. With the stroke of a pen we can allow families to remain in their homes and feel secure in the event of a family members passing with life insurance; and in the event of a natural disaster we can put families and businesses back together with home, auto and flood insurance. When I’m not at the office you can find me doing some outdoor activities.
I have always enjoyed being outdoors and many of the activities associated with it. These include golf, fishing, boating and the beach. I love living in Greensboro. This city has provided a wonderful life for me and my family and I have given of my time and energy to help make it a better place for all of us by serving on various boards in numerous organizations. I have also been active in the ECU Pirates Club and the Alumni Association.
